Ground-up roof installation for new construction, additions, and ohana units, with design-stage material guidance and licensed local partner crews.

A New Build Is a Different Job Than a Replacement

This page is for roofs that do not exist yet: a new home going up, an addition, or an ohana unit in the backyard. A replacement job inherits its decisions from the old roof. A new installation gets to make them fresh, and the choices made on paper, before a single rafter is cut, decide how that roof performs for the next thirty years in Hawaii wind and sun. If you are replacing the roof on the home you already live in, you want our residential re-roofing page instead.

The Design-Stage Decisions That Matter on Oahu

Where We Fit in Your Project

We are an independent roofing consultant. We work alongside you and your builder or architect, help spec the right system for the lot and the budget, then coordinate a licensed local roofing contractor to install it. While the work happens, we photo-document the deck, the underlayment, the flashing, and the finished surfaces, so you close out construction with a complete record of what is under your roof. That documentation matters for warranties, for insurance, and for resale.

Ohana Units and Additions

Small structures get the least attention and often the worst roofs. An ohana unit or addition has its own challenges: tying into the existing roof cleanly, matching materials so the property reads as one home, and hitting code on a structure that may sit closer to the property line and its neighbors. We treat a 400-square-foot ohana roof with the same spec discipline as a full house, because a leak over a rental unit costs you a tenant as well as a ceiling.

The Systems We Coordinate

Depending on the design, budget, and microclimate, a new Oahu roof usually lands on one of four systems: architectural asphalt shingle for most inland and leeward homes, standing-seam metal for coastal and salt-heavy lots, concrete or clay tile where the neighborhood and structure call for it, and TPO or PVC membrane for flat and low-slope sections. We will tell you plainly which one fits and why, including when the cheaper option is genuinely the right call.

Talk to Us Before the Plans Are Final

The best time to bring us in costs you nothing and saves the most: while the roof is still a drawing. Call (808) 766-8023 and tell us about the project, whether it is a full new build in Kapolei, an addition in Kailua, or an ohana unit anywhere on the island.
